The Dubai Metro carried a total of 266,671 passengers over the three-day Eid holiday, said the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
On Tuesday, the third day of the break, 71,266 people travelled on the Red Line.
The total number of passengers since the Metro’s launch on September 9 has reached 797,768, said Dr Aysha Al Busmait, Director of the RTA’s Customer Service Centres.
“A successful Metro is a true success for Dubai,” she added. “It bears witness to the urban boom Dubai is experiencing on all fronts. The Dubai Metro has been chosen by many as their preferred mode of transport and is also helping to reduce traffic jams and pollution.” Mall of the Emirates Station has been used by more passengers – 49,521 – than any of the other nine stations that have so far been opened.
It is followed by Al Rashidya (43,943), Nakheel Harbour and Tower (37,726), Khalid bin Al Waleed (31,532), Union Square (27,145), City Centre (25,806) and Dubai Financial Centre (17,036).
