The 77th Open Number Plates Auction organised by the Licensing Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), at the Dubai Police Officers’ Club, saw intense turnout from all spectrums of the community. The auction proved attractive as it contained 2, 3, 4 and 5-digit distinguished number plates for private vehicles, classic cars and motorbikes, and generated proceeds totaling Dh22,811,500.
“About 125 numbers were offered in the auction, and around 150 bidders from all ages and community segments took part,” said Mohammed Abdul Karim Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency.
“The binary plate (N 44) was the sales topper, fetching 2.12 million, followed by another dual plate (K 26) which was sold for Dh1.3 million. Next came the three-digit plate (M 786) which was exchanged for Dh565,000, ahead of the four-digit plate (J 7777) which brought back Dh530,000. The five-digit plate (M 22222) was knocked down for Dh450,000,” he explained.
“As regards plates dedicated to classic vehicles, the 3-digit plate (111) and the 5-digit plate (111111) were sold for Dh70,000 a piece, while the 4-digit plate (1111) raised Dh55,000 and the plate (1000) realised Dh52,000. In the motorbikes plates division, the highest price was paid for the plate (123) amounting to Dh30,000. More info
