If you are in Knowledge Village or Dubai Media City today you can spot Dubai Tram make its first entry into the area, as phase 2 of the trial period kicks off.
Road and Transport Authority (RTA) commences with the second stage of testing on Wednesday, [April 16]. It will take place in Zone 2, starting from Dubai Knowledge Village and ending in Media City. The tram will run along four stations – Marina Towers, Mina Seyahi, Media City, and Palm Jumeirah – where it will eventually connect to the Monorail of the palm-shaped island.
The launch of the next testing phase concludes a successful trial of the tram in phase 1, where the tram made its first appearance outside the tram depot, passing along Al Sufouh Road towards Knowledge Village and back.
If everything goes according to plan, Dubai Tram can be seen in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) and Dubai Marina in its final phase of testing starting from June 14, 2014, and on November 10, 2014 it will officially become a mode of transport. More info
