A huge library holding at least a million books and designed in the shape of an open book is set to open in Dubai next year.

1The emirate’s municipality first approved the project called Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in July 2013, which is due to open in 2017.

The 66,000 sq m building will be in Al Jaddaf, and will feature internet services, various areas for open reading, a stage, a cinema, a visual and auditory library and a borrowing book section.

Visitors can also expect live library presentations, documentaries and lectures to take place while there will be separate areas for children.

Dubai is already a literary hub with the 2016 Emirates Airline Literary Festival right around the corner. More info
