Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed business hours for its customer happiness centres, paid parking zones, public bus, Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, marine transit, and technical testing services for the public holiday that has been declared for Islamic New Year on 1 Muharram 1441 Hijri, with free parking confirmed across Dubai – except at multi-level parking terminals – on the holiday, which is expected to fall on Sunday, 1 September, 2019.
Customer service centres will close during holiday and reopen on 2 Muharram 1441H, but RTA’s Smart Customers Happiness Centres at Umm Al Ramool and its head office will be operating as usual.
Dubai Metro’s Red Line will operate from 5am to midnight, while Green Line will run from 5.30am to midnight.
Dubai Tram will be operational during the Islamic New Year holiday from Saturday to Thursday between 6am to 1am, while on Friday its hours will be reduced to 9am to 1am.
RTA’s main bus stations, including the one at Gold Souq, will operate from 4.25am to 00.59am, while Ghubaiba Station will be in service from 4.26am to 00.43am.
Sub-stations, including the RTA bus hub at Satwa, will start service from 5am to 11pm, except for Route C01, which will operate around-the-clock from Satwa.
RTA’s Qusais Station will run bus service from 4.34am to 00.08am; Al Quoz Industrial Station will open work 5.05am to 11.35pm; and Jebel Ali Station will operate from 5am to 11.22pm.
Dubai Metro link bus stations at Rashidiya, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa, Abu Hail, and Etisalat will be in service from 5am to 00.10am, with RTA explaining that the timing of its feeder bus service would be synchronised with metro timetables.
For inter-city bus stations and commercial coaches, timings for bus services from main stations such as Al Ghubaiba to Sharjah will operate round-the-clock, while the Abu Dhabi service will run from 4.30am to 00.01am.
Substations such as the facility at Union Square will be in service from 4.35am to 01.25am, RTA said in a statement on its website.
Sabkha Station will be in service from 6.15am to 1.30am; Deira City Centre Station will operate from 5.35am to 11.30pm; Karama Station’s bus service will run from 7am to 10.23pm; and Stadium Station will be open from 5.55am to 10.15pm.
External Stations, such as Sharjah’s Al Ta’awun, will run from 5.30am to 10pm, and Fujairah Station will operate from 5.23am to 9.39pm. RTA’s Ajman Station will operate from 5.30am to 11pm, and Hatta Station will work from 5.30am to 9.30pm.
Marine transit services during the Islamic Hijri Year holiday will see Water Bus services operating at Marina Stations – including those at Marina Mall, Marina Walk, Marina Terrace, and Marina Promenade – from noon to midnight.
The marine service will run from Jaddaf to Dubai Water Canal Stations at 12.40pm, 3.30pm, and 6.15pm, while the Dubai Water Canal-Jaddaf route will see water buses operating at 2.05pm, 4.50pm, and 7.40pm.
The traditional abra service will operate at Dubai Creek Stations – along routes such as Fahidi to Sabkha, Dubai Old Souq to Baniyas, and Baniyas to Al Seef – from 10am to 1am, while the abra service on Sheikh Zayed Road will run from 4pm to 10pm.
Air-conditioned abras will ferry passengers between Jaddaf and Dubai Festival City from 8am to midnight, and Burj Khalifa Station’s electric abra will operate from 5pm to 11.30pm.
Abra services will operate at the Marina, Al Seef, Dubai Festivity City, Baniyas, and Al Fahidi Stations from 5pm to 11.30pm.
From the Waterfront to Marasi Stations, abra journeys will run at 11.05am, 12.35pm, 2.05pm, 3.55pm, 5.20pm, 6.30pm, and 8.20pm.
Marasi-Waterfront Station abra services will be offered at 12.15pm, 1.45pm, 3.15pm, 5.05pm, 6.15pm, 7.40pm, and 9.30pm.
The newly opened Ferry line between Dubai and Sharjah will operate during the Islamic New Year holiday. It will be offered from Sharjah Aquarium between 2pm and 10pm, and at Ghubaiba Station from 3pm to 11pm.
RTA said its service provider centres for technical testing would be closed on the Islamic New Year holiday and resume services on the following day. More
