Dubai: At least 10 kiosks with high-speed internet service have been installed at different locations in the city to help commuters use the ‘Wojhati’ service to plan their journey on public transport.
“We have installed 10 touch-screen platforms with internet facility at different locations to enable passengers to use journey planners commonly called ‘Wojhati’ to plan their journey using different modes of transport in the city,” said Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dossary, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Public Transport Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Touch-screen terminals have been installed at Dubai Gold Souq Bus Station, Main Customer Service Centre at RTA old premises at Umm Al Ramool, and Metro stations at Al Rashidiya, Al Ittihad (two screens), Khalid Bin Al Waleed, Burj Khalifa, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai International Airport (Terminal 3) and Deira City Centre.
More planned
“These screens are powered by high-speed internet connectivity and offer free-of-cost services to all commuters,” said Al Dossary. More such screens will be installed in different parts of the city including shopping centres.
He said that the aim of offering this service was to provide the best facilities to lure more people to use public transport. The user can either access the website in Arabic or English.
Wojhati, which means ‘My destination’ in Arabic, helps commuters plan their journeys.
The system gives real- time information along with maps and route plan. You can even print your journey plan.
The system has live train and bus schedules.
Wojhati is the best way to use the new integrated public transport system, including the Dubai Metro.
Commuters can use Wojhati on a dedicated RTA portal. It is an integrated system covering buses, the Metro and water buses. By using this system online, commuters can know details about their complete journey plan, mode of transport to reach their destination, fare and even the time required to cover the distance. Through this system, commuters can plan their journey hours and even days before they travel.
