THE NOL card used for the Metro and buses has been upgraded and can now be used for water buses and for the payment of parking fees all over Dubai Emirate, a few days before the special groups get a 50 per cent discount on the public transport.
“The teams have completed upgradation of all parking machines in Dubai Emirate’s all Metro gates, the buses and the stations of water buses,” said the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Corporate Technical Support Sector at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Abdullah Al Madani.
Early last month, the RTA announced that it will introduce a number of services with regards to tickets and NOL cards. Among the changes that have been carried out is the use of red ticket for both buses and the Metro.
Until recently, the NOL Red Ticket was valid only in the outlet from which it was purchased. Now, the red ticket users will be able to use their ticket from any station.
“We have also completed integration of the NOL Red Ticket in all stations, so that passengers are able in travelling on all public transportation modes, regardless of where it was purchased,” said the Director of Automatic Fare Collection, Mohammed Al Mudharrab.
Other services
The other services to be launched in phases include a dual-chip card known as “Combi Card.” It is a card that has the function of a credit card and the NOL card, enabling travellers to pay for any modes of public transportation.
According to Al Madani, people who receive a 50 per cent discount can apply for the NOL card as of 15 March 2011 through NOL card portal (www.nol.ae) or the Metro stations and public bus stations in Dubai.
