Under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Emirate will host during the period 10 – 14 April 2011 the 59th UITP (International Association of Public Transport) Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition.
Dealing with issues relating to public transport sector in cities and convening under the theme “Boosting Public Transport: Action”, the Congress, which takes place for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa, provides an appropriate opportunity for public transport decision-makers and urban development stakeholders to review the latest developments involving public transport, corporate systems, technologies, corporate policies, industrial innovations and financial plans.
It will also discuss the best practices and provide exposure to the successful experiences in various parts of the world. The Congress’s accompanying exhibition is also an opportunity for the participants from various countries of the world to showcase their transport-related products, services and solutions.
Attended by over 4,000 participants, the Congress will feature several sessions, panel discussions and events, including 22 working sessions, 16 forums, 9 workshops, one visit to the Bus Operation Control Center, and one visit to the Water Taxi and Dubai Metro as well as some other recreational activities in the form of introductory tours of Dubai city, a cultural soiree and luncheons and dinner parties for the participants.
