Aramex, a leading logistics and transportation solutions provider, has expanded its delivery channels for local express services within the emirate of Dubai to include the recently launched Dubai Metro.
The new transport route complements Aramex’s existing ground fleet for express consignments, boosting overall efficiency and reliability of services for those routes that are currently inhibited by heavy vehicular traffic, said a statement.
As part of the Metro-based express channel, more than five Aramex courier representatives transport express consignments in special trolley bags that comply with Dubai Metro rules for baggage transport, with each courier handling over 70 express shipments.
The areas covered by the Metro-based couriers currently include Bank Street in Bur Dubai and Dubai International Financial Centre. The consignments are loaded at the Metro station at Deira City Centre, and then transported to various destinations within Dubai.
“Delivering express consignments by Metro is in line with our strategy to tap into the emirate’s growing public transport infrastructure to boost the efficiency and reliability of our express services,” said Hussain Hachem, Aramex chief executive officer for the Gulf.
“At Aramex, we follow a very flexible operational strategy, enabling us to make optimal use of both internal and external resources to enhance quality of our services,” he added.
“Employing the transport capacity offered by the Dubai Metro also enables us to be more environment-friendly and reduce our carbon footprint by a small amount. We look forward to expanding this channel of express transport over the coming months.” – TradeArabia News Service
