Arcadis has won a €20M (£14M) contract with the Qatar Rail Company to design the new Doha metro system. It will work as part of a joint venture called ALYSJ JV, which includes local and international firms.
It will provide architectural, branding, design and construction consultancy services for the Gold Line. It follows similar work on Doha’s Red Line South.
A 354km metro network is being built across Doha and the Gold Line is one of the four lines being built in the first phase of the development. The east to west Gold Line will cost €3.2bn (£2.3bn) and will include 32km of bored tunnel and 13 new stations.
Arcadis will work on the design and coordination of the architectural finishes for 10 of the new underground stations, with the possibility of winning the design work for the remaining three at a later stage. The design is expected to take a year, then construction a further two years. Arcadis will also do mechanical, electrical and plumbing design, structural design and landscape design. More info
