Car Free and Beautiful
Dubai Municipality on Wednesday called its first ever Car Free Day initiative a “huge success” as more than 1,500 employees of the civic body turned up for duty without taking their cars. Most of them depended on Dubai Metro and public transport buses to reach the office.
Depa Expects 24pc Rise in 2009 Profit
Dubai-based leading interior contracting company Depa Ltd. expects its net profit for 2009 will rise around 24 per cent to Dh241 million compared to Dh194.5 million in 2008. The Nasdaq Dubai listed interior designer has executed large and complex projects in over 16 countries. Its major projects in the country include the Burj Al Arab Hotel, Emirates Palace, Dubai Metro and Italian fashion brand Armani’s first hotel in the world located in the world tallest tower Burj Khalifa.

More than 1,500 employees and officials of the civic body will switch to public transport next Wednesday to spread awareness about air pollution, Director General of Dubai Municipality Hussain Nasser Lootah announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO Marine Agency and Chairman of RTA Customers Council, in a Press release on Monday said, ‘‘All advanced facilities, utilities and technologies, including parking, public buses, Metro, marine transport modes and taxicabs, are all aimed at easing the life of this category of customers.”
World’s Tallest Hotel Opens in Dubai
Towering near the Dubai International Financial Centre Metro Station, Rose Rayhaan is located on Shaikh Zayed Road, soaring up to 72 floors and to a height of 333 metres (1,093 feet).
