RTA Launches “Read More” initiative
Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently unleashed “Read More” initiative for students in public and private schools in the Emirate of Dubai, in the context of RTA corporate social responsibility; which is also considered translation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, towards assigning more attention to building humans before the place. HH says, “The development of man is the foundation on which a nation is built. This building cannot be considered complete without first developing the citizens, who are regarded as human wealth, constantly giving”.
RTA provides access to Bus Stops information through Google Earth
In an initiative unprecedented across the Middle East and North Africa, Public Transport Agency at the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the work team of Planning & Business Development Dep’t of the Agency teamed up with the GIS Section at IT Dep’t of the RTA and Google Inc. to upload Dubai public bus stops information on the digital space of Google Earth. The move will enable public bus users in the Emirate of Dubai visiting Google Earth portal to check this information at any time and from any place.
Cabdrivers educative program launched by RTA Dubai Taxi, Public Transport Agency
The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has teamed up with Public Transport Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to run an educative program for DTC taxi drivers focusing on traffic offences, as well as procedures & policies adopted by both bodies towards improving the code of conduct and quality of service delivered to the public.
RTA kicks-off implementation of Universal Centers Plan

RTA sells more than a million Nol Cards in 4 months through various sales outlets
Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Unified Automated Fare Collection Department (UAFC) at Corporate Technical Support Services Sector of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the total number of unified cards (Nol Cards) sold since the initial offering on 22 August till the end of December 2009 totaled about 1.2 million Nol Silver Cards.
Al Tayer receives the Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE
H.E. Mattar al-Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), recently received H.E. Datuk Yahaya Abdul Jabar, the Malaysian Ambassador to the UAE, in the presence of H.E. Mohammed Hasrin Aidid. The visit comes in the context of RTA efforts to build and boost the ongoing cooperative relations at the local, regional and international levels.
Dubai Metro Red Line to be completed in April 2010, Green Line in August 2011
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that the Contractor of Dubai Metro Project; Dubai Rail Link (DURL) Consortium; is set to complete all the remaining works in the stations on the Red Line (18 stations) on 25 April 2010, and that all works in the stations on the Green Line will be completed in August 2011.
Dubai Metro lifts 10m commuters in 5 months
Dubai Metro had lifted 9,872,545 passengers from the date it was launched on 9 September 2009 to 9 February 2010 through 11 stations on the Red Line, according to a statistic recently compiled by Rail Agency of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
