There used to be a bus station with two air-conditioned shelters located near the Fish Roundabout in Deira.
The bus stop had been around for a long time but the opening of the Union Metro Station in September 2009 saw the bus stop moved in front of the station.
The two old air-conditioned shelters, however, still stand where they used to but are of little use to anyone. In contrast, commuters waiting for buses in front of the Union Metro Station are forced to stand in the open.
This is one of the biggest Metro stations in Dubai. Yet, the bus stop in this area is an old-fashioned one.
If the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) removed the two air-conditioned shelters from the Fish Roundabout area and reinstalled them in front of the Union Metro Station, they would no doubt bring some relief to regular commuters.
I hope the RTA will take action at the earliest.
