The Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) has continued to lure children and families to Dubai’s malls as the unique shopping extravaganza, combined with leisure and entertainment, enters the final week.
The shopping deals and international shows have, as usual, drawn GCC nationals and residents to Dubai this year.
At Mercato, families are in awe watching Dubai’s first live presentation of the 25-minute episode of the lives of brother and sister, Charlie and Lola, a popular BBC television series adopted from the books written by Lauren Child. It is on show since July 4 until the end of DSS on July 14.
This famous children’s show is taking the limelight three times a day at 4.30pm, 6.30pm and 8pm at the main stage of Mercato. It focuses on the relationship between siblings Charlie and Lola, and tells the story of how they handle the little issues that they, as young children, encounter every day.
The Norwegian cartoon characters “City of Friends” performed their final live show at the Star Atrium of Dubai Mall on Sunday. The show, which started on June 28 was held three times a day, and was the first in the region. “City of Friends” is uniquely based on bedtime stories created by Carl Christian Hamre for his young son. Inspired by his day-job as a Special Forces police officer in the Norway State Police, Hamre recreated these stories from his daily adventures while working with the emergency Services.
“Hello Kitty Show” cartoon characters continue to perform at Dubai Festival City while other international performers entertain three times a day at 5.30pm, 8pm and 9pm from Rhythm Tap at Oasis Centre, Charlie Chaplin at Dubai Outlet Mall, Black and White Circus at Al Ghurair Centre, Mime Show at Deira City Centre and The Funny Juggling Show at the Arabian Centre.
