Sharjah — Drivers who violate rules on the hard shoulder will be fined Dh600 and will be issued six black points. At least 2,248 drivers were fined for overtaking on the hard shoulder during the first quarter of the current year, according to statistics revealed by the statistics department of Traffic Patrols of Sharjah Police.
The fines were recorded by Anjad of the Traffic and Patrols Department.
Major Khaled Mohammed Al Kai, Deputy Director of Awareness and Traffic Campaigns section said the hard shoulder is constructed for emergencies. He said it is a fast lane for civil defence and police vehicles.
He said violation of rules on the hard shoulder leads to fatal accidents, especially on highways. He added that drivers who commit such violations will be fined Dh600 and will be issued six black points. He called on drivers not to overtake while on the hard shoulder and to abide by traffic rules. More info
