The contract for the first of three lines being built under phase one of Doha’s Metro system is set to be awarded next month, according to Qatar Rail CEO Saad Al Muhannadi.
Giving the opening address at the Middle East Rail 2013 conference in Dubai, Al Muhannadi said: “For the underground, we are already in the final stages of tender evaluation and we are ready to award this for the red package by March and for Gold and Green by the end of Quarter 2 for 2013.”
Some 18 different consortia had pre-qualified for the tender line packages.
Al Muhannadi, whose organisation is responsible for the delivery of the Metro, the heavy rail network linking to the pan-GCC network and light rail systems at Lusail and West Bay, also said a plethora of other tender packages are set to be floated soon. More info
