The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which was informed 18 hours after the death of a worker at a project site, has asked the Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd(MMOPL) to take precautions and not withhold accident details from it.
MMOPL, which is building the first Metro line (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar ) in the city, has blamed its junior officials for initially attempting to conceal the death on its project site near Andheri station on July 7. “We have written to MMOPL about the incident ,” said an MMRDA official. “The worker was rushed to a hospital and we also filed a report at the police station concerned . There was no deliberate attempt to conceal anything,” said an MMOPL official. Meanwhile, MMRDA officials are discussing methods to gear up safety standards at project sites in the city.
