Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open the first of a number of new bridges on Friday next that’s hoped to ease traffic congestion in the area.
Rashidiya Bridge, at the intersection of the Airport Street, is set to improve traffic flow in the direction of Deira, as well as Al Khawaneej, the RTA said.
The new bridge opening will the first in a series of upgrades around the airport in the coming months, according to Mattar Al Tayer, RTA director-general.
The roads authority will also open a new bridge at the intersection of Casablanca Street would be operational in mid-January.
The new bridge at the junction of Marrakech Street, opposite to Emirates airline building, which will serve traffic from Deira in the direction of Airport Street, will be opened by the end of February.
Al Tayer said that both the Expo Bridge, in the direction of Dubai Aviation Engineering Project premises, and the new Nad Al Hamar Bridge, in the direction of Airport St, will be opened by the end of March 2018.
“The Improvement of the Airport Street. Project is part of RTA’s plans to accommodate the projected growth in the number of passengers using the Dubai International airport, which is expected to shoot to 92 million passengers by 2020,” said Al Tayer. More info
