Dubai Metro has served 1,740,578 passengers in the initial month of operation since its maiden journey on 10 September up to 10 October 2009 across 10 stations on the Red Line, according to statistics compiled by RTA Rail Agency.
Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of RTA Customer Service Centers Dep’t, gave a breakdown of passengers per stations during the intiatl month of operation and said: “Mall of the Emirates Station topped the list in terms of the number of passengers lifted during the first month’s period totaling 322,718 passengers, followed by Khalid bin Al Waleed Station (244,081 passengers), Rashidiya Station (223,669 passengers), Al Ittihad Station (199,426 passengers), Nakheel Harbour & Tower Station (194,079 passengers), Deira City Center Station (172,299 passengers), Dubai Financial Center Station (132,871 passengers), Rigga Station (113,538 passengers), Jafliah Station (76,559 passengers), and Airport Terminal 3 Station (61,338 passengers)”.
She added: “Metro commuters are advised to be patient and not hurry to board the metro. They are also recommended to go over the tips and guidance prepared by Rail Agency specialists for the safety of all passengers. Commuters need not pack in front of the train doors as it is a direct and key reason for delaying the alighting and boarding process.
“The public and the media in the UAE & the region are required to source any data, details, information and replies to all queries related to Dubai Metro from the RTA as it is sole concerned authority empowered to provide all information related to Dubai Metro, be it through news, quotes or press releases directly made with regard to statistics, stations, completion rates, operation plans, security, safety, quality & health, and any other information sought by the media in this regard”.
