People using the Dubai Metro will soon be able travel on the system with contactless smart card technology.
This week sees the launch of the Nol Blue Card by the emirate’s Roads and Transport Authority, which the organisation hopes will allow passengers to use the transit system in a smoother and safer manner.
Abdullah Al Madani, Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Technical Support Services Sector, said that the new technology will particularly aid commuters who use the Metro on a regular basis and often need to recharge their card balances.
“Metro and public transport users can apply for Nol Blue Card as of this week either online through Nol Card portal or ticket selling offices at the metro stations,” he explained.
It comes as London mayor Boris Johnson and transport chiefs in the English capital announced that passengers in Greater London will be able to use the Oyster smart card on over-ground train services across the city as of January 2nd.
