The “behind-the-scenes” video shows various teams, including skilled professionals, working round-the-clock to host a memorable evening in Downtown Dubai, which the developer said, “will add to the pride of the nation.”
UAE residents had earlier taken to social media to express concern that the fireworks at Burj Khalifa will be replaced with a lights show. The developer did not confirm that the pyrotechnics display has indeed been cancelled, but it assured that New Year’s revellers are in for a “spectacle” that will break world records.
“We have several surprises in store this year. We’re lighting up the sky and celebrating the New Year with an innovative performance that will dazzle the world and put the global spotlight on the UAE and Dubai,” Downtown Dubai said.
In its latest statement, Emaar said a team of global professionals are working non-stop for the festivities.
“With a team of global professionals working round-the-clock, the “Light Up 2018” spectacle will celebrate the UAE’s achievements and pay tribute to the founding father of the nation, the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to mark the ‘Year of Zayed’ in 2018,” Emaar said.
The New Year’s Eve celebrations will start from 5pm with the Dubai Fountain shows and live deejay, and continue till 1am. More info
