The Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC), Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), has discussed the technical specifications of Toyota’s Innova taxicabs operating in the taxi fleet and the specifications required to be addressed in these vehicles to meet customer needs. Discussions also covered aspects related to saving expenditure and maintaining the technical & operational efficiency of these vehicles.
To this effect, a meeting has recently been held attended by the CEO of the Dubai Taxi Corporation Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi, and DTC Director of Fleet Operations Mohammed Yousef Salih, as well as a high-ranking delegation from Toyota Motors Corporation, and Al Futtaim Motors; the exclusive distributor of Toyota vehicles in the UAE.
The meeting exuded the satisfaction of the DTC with the operational functioning of Toyota vehicles deployed in the fleet in general and Innova brand in particular. Discussions also included the mileage done by these vehicles, petrol consumption rates and maintenance cost per kilometer as well as other technological and technical issues.
“Al Futtaim Motors is amongst the key suppliers of vehicles to the DTC fleet; which comprises 3504 taxicabs; where Innova vehicles account for 20 per cent of total the fleet,” revealed Al Hammadi.
“Toyota delegation was briefed on some additional requirements needed to meet customer needs so that they will be taken into consideration at the time of manufacturing vehicles designated to serve as taxicabs. Examples of these include air purification, limiting speed to 140 km/h, fitting seat sensors, and rubber mats in addition to the meter and how to optimize its usage,” added the CEO of the DTC.
During the gathering, a visual presentation was made spotlighting the DTC along with its roles & responsibilities, services offered to clients, and the taxi booking & dispatch system in addition to various figures and statistics about vehicles, maintenance and operational details. The visitors were also taken in a tour to various facilities of the DTC including the Workshop, parking yard of Innova, and the spare parts warehouse.
The delegation praised the efforts and facilities proved by the DTC to suppliers at various locations and commended the cooperation & support accorded by the DTC to Toyota Motors and Al Futtaim Motors in the context of mutual cooperation as long-term strategic partners. More info
