Dubai Tram available for public use from November 12

Dubai: The latest addition to RTA’s fleet of public transport services, Dubai Tram, will be made available for public use on November 12.

However, according to senior officials at the authority, only an official inauguration ceremony will take place on November 11, details of which will be announced soon. Also read: Dubai Tramway second phase work to start soon.

“We are very excited about the opening of Dubai Tram. However, our priority is to provide safe and smooth public transport for everyone who uses any modes of public transport,” said Moaza Saeed Al Marri, Director of RTA Marketing and Corporate Communication.

Speaking at an interactive session with several members of the media, senior RTA officials repeatedly stressed that they want the public to be well aware of the safety measures, payment methods, and transfer to different modes of transportation that people need to be mindful of while travelling on, or near the Dubai Tram. The operational hours of Dubai Tram will be released shortly. In another event with the media, officials announced that the tram would not be a 24-hour service.

Cost of tram ticket, validation

Abdulla Al Madani CEO of the Corporate Technical Support Services Sector of RTA said irrespective of the distance travelled, the cost of using the tram is Dh3. Passengers using the tram must tap-in and tap-out their Nol cards at designated validation booths in the tram stations. More info
