DUBAI—The Rail Agency of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) reported that about 106,000 passengers have used the Green Line on the first two days since the opening day. Passengers travelled between 16 stations representing a full and substantial integration with the Red Line in serving the largest possible chunk of public transport commuters in Dubai Emirate.
The CEO of RTA Rail Agency Adnan Al Hamadi said that lifting this number of passengers during the first two days from the launch of the Green Line on 9/9/2011 was a clear testament to the growing culture of public transport in keeping with the excellent services offered by the RTA to the public in this sector; which is considered the backbone of the progress and prosperity drive witnessed by the country in general and Dubai in particular in all fields.
“The success of the metro is a real success for the Dubai Emirate portraying it as the key city in public transport industry across the region, thus raises its profile in the global public transport map; which is considered a record achievement compared to peer cities worldwide which took several years to accomplish this achievement.
This achievement could not have been made in such high speed and quality without the unlimited support of the Dubai Government headed by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as well as the close follow-up and continuous support accorded by him to the project. Not to mention the expeditious efforts put by RTA employees and affiliated work teams who continued to work day and night with the contractors to deliver this project on time,” added Al Hamadi.
The CEO of Rail Agency anticipated that traffic of passengers using the Green Line of Dubai Metro is expected to rise steadily on daily basis in view of the key and vital destinations serviced by this Line including several businesses and commercial entities operating in Dubai Emirate.
