Metro Passengers Hit 3 Million-Mark

DUBAI — Over three million people used the Dubai Metro from September 9 to November 9, according to figures released by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Ramadan Abdullah, Director of Rail Operation Department at RTA’s Rail Agency said the Metro ridership touched the 3,492,175 passengers mark from the start of operations at 10 stations on the Red Line.

Abdullah said, the Mall of the Emirates station led all the other stations in terms of passengers carried during the period where 607,775 passengers used the facility at the popular shopping destination.

Khalid bin Al Waleed station saw 507,196 passengers board the Metro with the Ittihad (437,017), Al Rashidiya (400,303), Nakheel Harbour and Tower (357,934), Deira City Center (343,129), Financial Center (288,220), Riqqa (241,389), Jafliya (177,278) and Airport Terminal 3 (131,934) stations next in line of order.

Abdullah called on Metro users not to rush to take the trip on the Metro, giving the guidelines prepared by 
Rail Agency which aim at the safety of all passengers.

He specifically cautioned them against congesting before the train doors as it is a key factor underlying the delay in the traffic of passenger boarding and alighting.
