More than 66 million passengers have used public buses in the first half of the year, according to the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
The RTA’s Public Transport Agency achieved a bus operation rate of 89 per cent mainly due to its strategy to increase the use of public transport, ease traffic congestion, enhance safety, improve air quality and reduce carbon emissions.
The internationally acknowledged standard of the bus operation rate is 85 per cent, said Abdullah Al Maazami, director of maintenance and services at RTA’s Public Transport Agency. More info
