Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is likely to be approached in February for safety certifications of the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar metro rail.
“In a week, oscillation trials are expected to begin for the entire 11-km-long metro rail.
These will be conducted by the Research Design and Standard Organisation (RDSO),” said UPS Madan, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) commissioner, on Thursday.
The authorities are expecting permission for the trials to come in in the next couple of days from the Railway Board.
Once RDSO completes its battery of tests, next will be the CMRS.
“Sometime in February, we will ask the CMRS to conduct checks of the metro corridor,” added Madan.
The Mumbai metro rail project’s first corridor has entered into the final stages of construction, with clearances awaited from statutory authorities.
The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited, consortia for the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor, led by Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra), has revised the deadline for the project several times. The latest deadline is by the end of 2013-14 financial year, ie March. More info
