Property developer Nakheel has launched a new cruise service that will provide tours of its projects off the coast of Dubai, beginning with the Palm Jumeirah.
The ‘Cruise with Nakheel’, which sets sail beginning today around the Palm Jumeirah’s crescent, is aimed at repositioning the developer’s as a tourist attraction as a way to boost revenue for the development.
Three sizes of boat are available for hire – 38ft, 52ft and 80ft, which can carry up to 12, 15 or 30 people respectively. The smallest boat costs Dhs1,000 an hour to hire, the medium-sized one is Dhs1,500 and the large double-decker houseboat costs between Dhs3,000 and Dhs5,000 depending on how many people are aboard.
The service, which starts at the Nakheel offices on Al Sufouh Road, will operate from 9-5pm per day and last from one to three hours. Nakheel expects to operate between two and three trips a day.
Separate cruises to the World islands will also be made available in the future, Nakheel said. The World project encompasses 300 islands ranging in size from 150,000 to 450,000 square feet. However, just two privately owned islands have begun construction — the six-island Heart of Europe Project developed by the Kleindienst Group and the Lebanon Island developed by Wakil Admed Azmi.
