Dubai: Rocky Real Estate has won the leasing rights for retail units in the Dubai Metro and is now looking for tenants.
Across Dubai Metro stations there are 116 shops on the Red Line and 79 shops on the Green Line of which a substantial number have been leased.
Adnan Al Hammadi, Rail Agency CEO, said the Metro Retail outlets present unique business opportunities for the retail sector to offer goods and services to passengers using both lines, particularly in view of the continuous increase in Metro users.
High-traffic areas
“Thousands of commuters use the Metro every day, making its stations high-traffic areas with heavy footfalls. This translates into a huge opportunity for retail, something the RTA had realised early on. Subsequently bids were invited to lease out the retail units on the stations on the Red and Green lines. From among all the bidders, Rocky Real Estate won the contract to lease out the units,” he added.
Meanwhile, Rocky Real Estate believes it will have little difficulty attracting tenants.
“The units are tailor-made for convenience stores, food and beverage outlets, book stores, florists, etc — essentially those that cater to commuter needs on the go,” said Kiran Uttamchandani, director of Rocky Real Estate.
