The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will roll out this week Nol Blue Card online as well as through ticket counters at Dubai Metro stations.
Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technical Support Services Section, said Metro and public transport users can apply for the card as of this week either online through Nol Card portal or ticket offices at the Metro stations.
“This category of Nol Cards has been designed for commuters who use public transport modes frequently and need to recharge their balances. The RTA ensures security of their balances in case the cards are lost or damaged,” he said. “Nol Blue Card is a secure and personalised smart card with an e-purse enabling the user a top-up of Dh500.”
The card is valid for use on all integrated public transport modes in Dubai and can be recharged through any channel used for topping-up Nol cards — RTA Customer Service Centres, RTA approved sales agents, Metro and bus stations, and ticket-vending machines installed in various parts of the emirate.
Mohammed Al Mudharreb, acting director of Unified Automated Fare Collection Department, said to obtain a Nol card, commuters need to complete an application form that is available at Metro stations, present a personal photograph and an ID (passport or ID card).
The application is then forwarded to the department and the card issued.
The authority will send an SMS or e-mail message containing the details of the application and reference number for the customer to follow-up on the status of the application later on.
Upon approval, the applicant will receive an SMS containing the application number and date for coordinating receipt with the delivery company (Nol Blue Card will be dispatched through express mail companies).
The card is likely to be delivered within 10-15 days from the date of submission of application and the applicant can contact RTA Customer Service Centre at 8009090 in case of a delay in delivery.
Nol Blue Card is a new addition to the three other Nol cards issued by the RTA — Nol Gold Card, a card with no specific identity of the holder and has the same features of Nol Silver Card, but enables the use of Metro Gold Class car against a premium; Nol Silver Card, a card with no specific identity of the holder and has an e-purse rechargeable up to Dh500; and Nol Red Ticket, a paper ticket that has no e-purse and valid for 10 trips.
