HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced the launch of a new package of smart services offered by RTA to customers during Gitex 2016.

The bundle is featured by unveiling the design of hourly rental cars (Smart Rental), smart parking, smart lighting, Raqeeb System; which monitors bus driver’s condition during service, smart nol services, and the latest updates of RTA’s smart apps & services.

“The launch of the new package of smart apps & services is undertaken in implementation of the initiative of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world. This requires offering services to the public through mobile phones 24/7, bringing happiness to people, and enhancing customers’ experience.

Unleashing these services could be possible thanks to the ongoing follow-up of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council; and HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai & Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, to deliver highly efficient services to customers through counting on cutting-edge technologies,” said Al Tayer.

Smart Rental

“RTA would soon start construction works in Phase I of the Smart Parking Project, which enables motorists identify vacant parking slots on the Sheikh Zayed Road, and Al-Rigga area, followed by other areas subject to the paid parking zones system.

The project would save the hassles of searching for vacant parking slots, and reduce the associated congestion. It enables the search of a specific area to know the number of vacant parking slots, and identify the distance between the location of the vehicle and the nearest vacant parking slot,” noted Al Tayer.

“Through its participation in Gitex, RTA will exhibit the new hourly car rental system (smart rental) announced recently by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council.

The Smart Rental supports RTA’s efforts in raising the ridership of mass transit means, and boosting the integration of transportation systems, which facilitates the mobility of public transport commuters, especially metro riders, in reaching their final destinations. The hourly car rental system offers car rental service for up to six hours maximum via smart apps, online channels or telephone.

Initiatives to be exhibited also include the smart lighting project that conforms to the smart city initiative and the Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative. The project includes several systems such as a central system for remote wireless control of street lighting, which reduces power consumption and expands the lifetime of lighting units.

It also includes surveillance cameras system enabling direct & wireless transmission of images captured to the control station in addition to a Wi-Fi system that is currently being experimented on the Dubai Canal Bridge on the Sheikh Zayed Road,” added Al Tayer. More info
