The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is currently engaged in putting the final touches of Al Khail Road Widening Project and bracing itself or opening the entire Project comprising six lanes in each direction, providing seamless traffic flow over the whole traffic corridor by the end of this year 2012.

The initial phase of the plan includes street naming in six areas: Umm Suqeim 1, Umm Suqeim 2, Umm Suqeim 3, Al Sufouh 1, Al Sufouh 2, and Dubai Marina, and is set to be completed before the end of this year. The 2nd phase comprises naming streets in 6 new areas, namely: Al Nahda , Muhaisna, Oud Mateena, Nad Al Sheba, Al Thaniyah, and Dubai Investments Park, and the phase is set to finish by the end of 2013.

The Dh1.925 billion Al Khail Road Widening and Improvement Project was approved in 2008 to help ease traffic congestion on Dubai's major roads. Al Khail Road is a 15-kilometre stretch of highway which runs parallel to Shaikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road and provides an important link to new developments and the Business Bay Crossing.

Smooth traffic movement is expected in and around The Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa during the Eid Al Adha holidays this time with new traffic control measures being taken by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) from today when residents and tourists go out and shop for the festival.

The metro will deliver excellent services during Eid al-Adha days in order to cater to the additional numbers of commuters comprising citizens, residents and visitors, particularly those coming from the GCC countries, and offer them smooth mobility service
