RTA exhibits a wide spectrum of e-services in Gitex
“RTA has worked out an integrated strategy to convert the services on offer and deliver them online in keeping with the vision and drive of the e-Government; a strategy based on prompt delivery and customer centricity. The total number of e-services delivered by RTA to customers is currently as high as 164 (procedural and informational) services spanning all services deliverable online, compared to 24 such services in 2007 and 116 services in 2008.
RTA puts final touches on Green Line stations of Dubai Metro
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board & Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced that RTA had completed the construction works in most stations on the Green Line of the Dubai Metro, following the full completion of the 23-km long track extending along the Green Line. Completion rates in stations currently range from 55 to 100 percent in the finishing works, 65 to 85 percent in electromechanical works, and as high as 85% in the Park-and-Ride facilities at Al Qusais.

Metro feeder routes to begin operating in Internet City
Office workers, nannies, technology staff and bank employees have expressed relief that their long, hot trudge to the office has ended as feeder buses have begun serving the Dubai Internet City Metro stop. Dozens of people who once walked or shared cabs to businesses scattered around the station are now taking buses that run at 20-minute intervals.
Al Tayer briefs Qatari delegation on RTA mass transit experience
H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), received a Qatari delegation headed by H.E. Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Ibrahim, Member of the Central Municipal Council. The meeting was attended from the Qatar side by Hassan bin Abbas Abdul Rahim, and Hamad bin Salih Al Hawl, and from the RTA attended a host of CEOs and Directors.
Staff deployed at new Metro stations
Tests have been conducted and staff deployed at the five new Metro stations set to open in mid-October, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official said. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA said: "Five more stations are ready to receive passengers by middle of October."

"Stations to be opened include Business Bay, First Gulf Bank, Sharaf DG, Nakheel and Jumeirah Lake Towers stations, and the remaining three stations will be opened upon completion of real estate and investment projects around them; as they have been especially constructed to serve these projects in which construction works are still underway,"
Free rides in Dubai on November 1
On the fifth anniversary of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), all NOL card holders can enjoy free rides on the Metro, waterbuses and city buses. The announcement was made by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the and Executive Director of the RTA while addressing the 125th anniversary of the International Association of Public Transport in Brussels, reported Gulf News. NOL cards can be used on any of the RTA transport facilities.

RTA participation in this global event aims at acquainting participants with the vital projects undertaken by the RTA in the field of infrastructure required for operating public transport network, and the strategic initiatives of integrated mass transit modes spanning the Dubai Metro, public buses, marine transport and taxis.

But the Dubai Metro was more than just another infrastructure project. In true Dubai style, it stood out for being the world's biggest, fully-automated driverless train, and for aiming to be the longest automated metro network service ever once the second line was finished.
