RTA endorses cycling tracks construction Plan 2013-2016
The Board of Directors of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), chaired by H.E. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, has recently approved a plan to construct Cycling Tracks stretching 52 km across 11 residential districts in Dubai at a cost of about Dhs40m.
Dh150 million Dubai Safari to showcase wildlife in natural setting
Known as Dubai Safari, the Dh150 million park project is right on track and senior officials at Dubai Municipality have confirmed that the new Dubai landmark has completed its first phase of construction and, as scheduled, will be completed by the end of 2014.
RTA constructs quad-bike circuit
The Monitoring and Enforcement Department at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has built a designated quad bike circuit at Wadi Al Amradi, Al-Warqa, Dubai under the theme “Safe Driving, More Fun”, with the aim of educating quad bikers as well as parents about the basics of quad biking to protect them from serious incidents that put their lives and others’ at risk.
Implementation of the Districts Addressing System
The initial phase of the plan includes street naming in six areas: Umm Suqeim 1, Umm Suqeim 2, Umm Suqeim 3, Al Sufouh 1, Al Sufouh 2, and Dubai Marina, and is set to be completed before the end of this year. The 2nd phase comprises naming streets in 6 new areas, namely: Al Nahda , Muhaisna, Oud Mateena, Nad Al Sheba, Al Thaniyah, and Dubai Investments Park, and the phase is set to finish by the end of 2013.
New street names to be phased in for Dubai's roads
Maitha bin Edai, CEO of traffic and roads at the RTA, said: “The great development in Dubai’s urban and real-estate sector requires a fast and accurate street naming system that facilitates mobility and accessibility. It will help people in narrating addresses of their homes, offices and shops. Studies have shown the public can recall and retrieve names more easily than numbers.
Green Line to be extended to Academic City
The much-speculated extension of the Green Line of Dubai Metro, which began its operations last month, is a certainty with plans to stretch it up to the Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) soon, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official told Khaleej Times.
