The ruler of Dubai has announced that a new opera house and modern art museum will be built in the emirate near the world's tallest building as part of an effort to boost Dubai's standing as a cultural hub. The new 'Dubai Modern Art Museum & Opera House District', which will be located on Emaar Boulevard in Downtown Dubai, is being billed as the UAE's newest arts and cultural nerve-centre, according to a statement issued by state news agency WAM.

Emaar Properties has announced plans to add over one million square feet to The Dubai Mall as part of an ambitious expansion of the world's most-visited shopping destination.

The Dubai Mall Metro Link, to be constructed by Dutco, will have five travelators, or moving walkways, in each direction – ten in all – with the air-conditioned and automated walkways capable of ferrying more than 13,500 individuals every hour. There will be a central walkway that will give additional space for pedestrian use.

The first fleet of luxury trolley buses rolled into the 500-acre plot at Downtown Dubai on Wednesday. The air-conditioned trolley buses, each with a capacity of 25 passengers, were introduced to enhance the ease of access for visitors to Downtown Dubai, especially with the summer months fast approaching.
