Dubai Metro to have 70 stations by 2020
Plans to extend sections of Dubai Metro are on track with the designs of the expansion on three ends of the network currently being worked out, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official told Gulf News.

Three new Metro lines — Blue, Gold and Purple — and a Jumeirah tram route will be up and running by 2030. Besides these, the current Red and Green lines will grow longer and will serve a growing population in the densely populated urban areas of Dubai. “The plans have been endorsed by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai,” said Al Tayer.

Quashing rumours of further delay in the opening of the Green Line, Abdul Mohsin Ebrahim Younus, CEO of Strategy and Corporate Governance at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said there would be no further delay as the construction work would be completed in August according to revised plans.
