“Only four run-over accidents were recorded in the first half of this year in which four children sustained minor to moderate injuries,” said the CEO of Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Traffic and Roads Agency, Eng. Maitha Bin Udai. She said if the drivers “play their part with utmost caution, they can help a long way in averting traffic accidents.”

His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board & Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that the projects and improvements carried out by the RTA, comprising roads, bridges & tunnels as well as mass transit network including Dubai Metro, public buses & marine transit modes, contributed to reducing the cost of time wasted annually due to traffic congestions from 4.9 billion dirham in 2005 to 2.4 billion dirham in 2010.

The operating company for the Dubai Metro has completed experimental tests of the Green Line - the moving test without passengers. A source in the company said, “The company has completed interiors in the Metro stations and more than 80 per cent of parking in Al Qusais, with a capacity of 2,700 vehicles.”
