Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the company building the $196m Rashid Hospital Tunnels project has completed construction and is putting the finishing touches to the tunnels, which are set to open on June 30.

After a wait of more than three years, motorists will be able to zoom past Broadcast Roundabout on their way to the Floating Bridge as the Rashid Hospital Tunnels Project gets ready for traffic. The Dh722 million project is currently receiving its finishing touches and is most likely to open to traffic by the end of this month.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that completion rate in Rashid Hospital Tunnels has topped 82 per cent in the Project which comprises the construction of roads & two 2-lane tunnels serving the traffic inbound from Tariq bin Ziyad & Umm Harir Streets and heading towards the intersection of Al Al Riyadh Street with the extension of the Floating Bridge.

New roads linking Al Riyadh and Oud Metha streets, expected to open to traffic by the middle of this year, will ease traffic woes in the Rashid Hospital area, Mattar Al Tayer, Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said yesterday. The new roads are part of the Dh700 million Rashid Hospital Tunnels Project, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-2013.
