Dubai Airshow takes off with multi-billion deals
Emirates placed a $76-billion (Dh279.68 billion) order for 150 Boeing 777Xs while Qatar Airways signed a letter of intent for 50 Boeing 777-9X valued at over $19 billion (Dh69.7 billion). flydubai also ordered up to 100 Boeing 737MAX and 11 737NGs for $11.4 billion (Dh41.8 billion).
New Dubai airport 'to be world's busiest'
Dubai aviation officials say scheduled passenger flights will begin in October from a new airport built with the goal of becoming the world's busiest. Dubai World Central, located about 60 kilometres southwest of the city's current airport, covers a vast stretch of desert and is envisioned as becoming the main hub for air travel in Dubai in coming decades.
