Mohammad launches bio-diesel RTA bus
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, also launched a series of projects, including an extended railway plan until 2030, a car pooling project, a pedestrian bridges project and bicycle racecourse. The Vice-President, on his visit to the headquarters of the Roads and Transport Authority also inaugurated the Middle East and North Africa Transportation Excellence Centre.
RTA runs 13 initiatives to foster, share knowledge culture

"The share of mass transit trips increased from 6 per cent in 2008 to 12 per cent in 2010 and RTA targets to push it further to as much as 30 per cent by 2020 through counting on the Metro, public buses, water bus, water taxi and Ferry Dubai, once launched," said Mohammad Obaid Al Mulla, Board Member and CEO of the RTA.

Free metro, bus and water bus rides will be offered to all Nol Card holders on November 1, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of RTA, announced the launch of ‘Public Transport Day’ initiative on November 1st, 2010 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the RTA in a speech at the 125th anniversary of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in Brussels.
