The future of public transport is here in Dubai. Commuting and connecting to different modes of transport will never be the same again with the sleek Dubai Tram arriving in style on Tuesday.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled the operation hours of the Dubai Tram; which will start passenger service as of Wednesday November 12th 2014 from 06.30 am up to 1.30 am (of the following day) from Saturday to Thursday.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that mass transit systems of the RTA - comprising the Dubai Metro, public buses, marine transit modes and taxis (Dubai Taxi and franchise companies taxis) - have all lifted 440.672 million passengers in 2013, according to statistics released by RTA Statistics Section.

A series of projects are in the pipeline to ease congestion in Dubai, including plans to add a second deck to Sheikh Zayed Road.

The Purple Line will have high speed trains with a maximum speed of 135 to 160 kilometres per hour, while the average speed of the train will be 100 kilometres per hour.
