Red Line opening held up
The full opening of the remaining stations of Dubai Metro’s Red Line has been delayed by two months, a top official told 7DAYS. Abdul Majeed Al Khaja, CEO of the rail agency said it had granted an extension for the contractors until April to complete the work. The stations had been due to open next month.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), revealed that all construction works on the 19 stations on the Red Line of Dubai Metro have been completed, and that electromechanical works in the said stations range from 80 to 97%, adding that RTA is all set to phase out the opening of the stations in February 2010.
