Du, the integrated telecom service provider, was recently honoured by the Road and Transportation Authority (RTA) for providing Dubai Metro with the world's first-of-its-kind WiFi network. The award was presented during a ceremony awarding the 'Strategic Partners Participating in the Execution of the Dubai Metro Project.'

The proposed purple line of Dubai Metro that would link the Dubai International airport with Al Maktoum airport in Jebel Ali is still in the pipeline, according to the Chairman of RTA. Al Tayer said that RTA is keen on implementing all the proposed infrastructure projects and once the government gives a go ahead on the purple line, the work on the implementation of the plan would start.
