Trailer registration to ensure safety: RTA
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) inspectors and examiners of trailers found that serious tyre defects, body cracks, defects in connections between the tractor and trailer, defects in the air pressure connections of the brake systems, and poor side and rear lighting of trailers have the potential of causing accidents.
Dubai residents get Dh4m for Metro damage
Seventeen residents affected by loud noise and damaged homes due to trains at Dubai Metro's Rashidiya depot have received Dh250,000 in compensation - a total payout of Dh4.25 million. "We have paid the amounts for the owners of the houses near the Metro depot last week," said Mattar Al Tayer, the chairman and executive director of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
RTA leads Dubai government departments in performance
The results are part of the Electronic Services Report of the Dubai Government Departments 2011/2012 released by the Dubai eGovernment. RTA topped among Dubai government departments by achieving a 14 per cent rating in terms of Improved Performance. With a score of 86 per cent, RTA likewise came first among entities delivering more than 100 electronic services.
Metro noise: RTA to pay villa owners
Noise from maintenance work at the Dubai Metro Depot in Rashidiyah has affected 17 houses in the area and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is taking steps to ease the impact by strengthening the structures and said it will disburse funds to owners. It is also considering providing new houses to those residents whose buildings have been damaged beyond repair.
Rashid Hospital Tunnels to open next June
“The Rashid Hospital Tunnels is being constructed as part of an integrated project through which the RTA is seeking to reduce traffic congestions in the vicinity of Rashid Hospital, and raise the traffic flow in the area. The total capacity of roads located within the project domain is poised to rise upon the project completion to 6,000 vehicles per hour,” said Al Tayer.
RTA begins Dh1billion roads project
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded two contracts for the construction of new roads in Al Qusais and Al Quoz costing Dh38 million, which form part of the first phase of its five-year Dh1-billion project to improve roads in the residential areas in the emirate. The move comes as the RTA tries to improve its road network in an effort to meet the demands of Dubai’s growing demography.
RTA launches e-package
“The number of hits received by the RTA website (www.rta.ae) has jumped from 926,000 hits in 2009 to 5.336 million hits in 2011. The number of text messages leapfrogged from 25 million in 2009 to 34.164 million messages in 2011.The number of RTA online service users soared from 12,677 users in 2006 to about 137,000 users in 2011, and the number of companies registered in the website grew to about 12,000 companies in 2011 compared to about 3,000 companies in 2006.”
Rashid Hospital tunnels to be opened next year
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, said the Rashid Hospital Tunnels Project is part of a master plan aimed to ease the traffic congestions in the vicinity of Rashid Hospital and ensure smooth traffic flow in the area. “Upon completion of the project, the capacity of roads within the surroundings of the project will rise to about 6,000 vehicles per hour.”
