The Public Transport Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), has recently unveiled family packages marking the start of events of the Dubai Summer Festival with the aim of offering new and multiple options for various community segments, and attracting new riders to the Dubai Ferry.

Dubai Metro is on the fast track to financial viability and is expected to break even in five years, while the bus system operated by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is expected to recover costs in 2016. This follows a massive rise in passenger numbers and savings in the operations of the mass transit system. The public transport system has cut Dh1.5 billion in costs, according to the RTA.

Up to 150 of the second lines’ 800 employees, which will include ticket sales staff, security personnel, train drivers and maintenance workers, will be UAE nationals, the CEO of Serco Middle East Zafar Raja has said.
