Issuance fee for blue Nol cards in Dubai reduced by 50%

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a 50 per cent discount on the issuance fee of the blue Nol card, which is a personalised travel card to use public transport in Dubai.

The new ‘Go4it’ credit card comes with Nol transit application, used for making payments on the RTA transit network and at parking meters. The credit card is linked to Nol and Salik accounts and can be configured to automatically top up these accounts when the funds fall below certain levels.

Public Transport Day attracts wide corporate, individual participation

The mass transit system in Dubai witnessed an improvement in the quality and number of means used to deliver services to passengers and the number of public transport users (metro, buses, marine transit modes and taxis) is expected to rise from 250 million in 2009 and 289 million passengers in 2010 to as much as 350 million passengers by the end of this year.

The newly lunched services include i-Dubai application, Usages of national identity card for municipality employees and a new website footprint.dm.ae.

As many as 606,000 people used public transport on November 1 last year, a 39 per cent increase from the daily average of 436,700 riders in 2010. This year, the response is expected to be even greater, with the Green Line of the metro being an added attraction.
