Dubai Metro users call for reduced night fare
Dubai Metro users have suggested increasing its speed and more entertainment on board the metro cars to make journey comfortable, Roads and Transport Authority said. The suggestions came during a meeting of the Customers Council of the RTA, part of the transport authority's effort to improve the public transport network in Dubai.

A red ticket could now be bought from any outlet and could be used for travelling on all modes of transport in Dubai, RTA announced. The RTA feels the facility would help get more tourists to use public transport modes and help solve a lot of confusion over ticketing.

THE NOL card used for the Metro and buses has been upgraded and can now be used for water buses and for the payment of parking fees all over Dubai Emirate, a few days before the special groups get a 50 per cent discount on the public transport.

30% of RTA projects to be tendered as PPPs
In the longer term, he confirmed that both the Sheikh Rashid bridge and the Dubai Smile - which will replace the existing floating bridge – would also be tendered as PPPs after 2014, not to mention the operation of the Dubai Metro Green Line and potentially the construction of other lines. "We have a plan to tender the operation and maintenance package of the whole metro system as a ppp in the future. It is also part of the long term plan to tender the construction of the other lines as PPP contracts."
RTA to launch travel pass for tourists to Dubai
The Dubai Travel Pass includes two Nol Cards, each with a credit of AED14 ($3.81), booklets about the integrated public transport systems, maps, information of interest to visitors, places to visit and how to get to those places using public transport, as well as other general information such as telephone numbers of emergency service, police, embassies, and ambulance. The pack also includes value-added offers for use in Dubai on the trip.
