New pedestrian bridges lead to drop in fatalities
New pedestrian bridges have brought down the number of fatalities, in some cases to even zero, and also reduced accidents by half in “problem areas” in Dubai.
Dubai's RTA to construct 17 footbridges in 2013-2016
The Roads and Transport Authority has given the green light to a plan for constructing 17 pedestrian bridges by 2016 covering vital areas in Dubai. The initial phase of the plan will see the construction of nine bridges in by 2014 at a cost of Dh45 million.
RTA kicks off construction of 13 new pedestrian bridges
Engineer Maitha bin Udai, Executive Director of the Traffic & Roads Agency, Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), announced the start of construction works in 13 new footbridges out 31 bridges intended to be constructed by the Agency over the next 5 years, adding that RTA is making strenuous efforts to serve pedestrians in the surroundings of the metro stations in order to ensure smooth & safe public transit.
RTA plans more pedestrian crossings in Dubai
The Traffic and Roads Agency, a sector of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), revealed plans to place more pedestrian crossings along roads across the city to curb jaywalking and make Dubai pedestrian-friendly.
