The urban transport system in Abu Dhabi (metro and light railway) is still at the planning stage. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that a total of 13,879,636 passenger travelled on the Red and Green Lines during April, up from 11,298,414 in April 2013.

Yousef Al Ridha, CEO of RTA Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, reiterated the keenness of RTA’s with its various agencies, to honor workers, who are considered the mainstay of the community and development, not to mention their efforts to realize the strategic objectives relating to developmental projects, infrastructure and services works.

“In 2007 Dubai started preparations for hosting UITP’s World Congress & Exhibition and in 2009, decision was made and Dubai competed with Australia and Singapore to win the privilege of hosting the World Congress in Dubai, which was first time in the 125 years of history of UITP to host the World Congress outside Europe and especially in the Arab world and the MENA region,” according to Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Board Member of RTA.

Dubai has announced a new residential city for Emiratis which will be self-sufficient in terms of resources, transport and energy, said to be the first of its kind in the world.

The two newly opened stations are expected to serve 2,100 passengers in Al Jadaf Station and 1,400 in Creek Stations. The RTA predicted that these figures will double with the opening of property development projects around and near these stations.
