$196m Dubai road project set to open on June 30
Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the company building the $196m Rashid Hospital Tunnels project has completed construction and is putting the finishing touches to the tunnels, which are set to open on June 30.

"The construction of Rashid Hospital Tunnels Project is part of a master plan aimed to ease the traffic congestion in the vicinity of Rashid Hospital and step up the traffic flow in the area. Upon the project completion, the capacity of roads within the scope of the project is set to rise to as much as 6000 vehicles per hour.
Dubai Smile to replace Floating Bridge
The seventh crossing over Dubai Creek called ‘Dubai Smile’, the bridge that will replace the Floating Bridge, will open for traffic in the middle of 2013, Khaleej Times has learnt. The crossing, which links the emirate’s two flanks, lies near Dubai Creek Park, Wonderland and Dubai Courts on the Bur Dubai side and Deira City centre and Dubai Golf club on the Deira side.

“The Rashid Hospital Tunnels is being constructed as part of an integrated project through which the RTA is seeking to reduce traffic congestions in the vicinity of Rashid Hospital, and raise the traffic flow in the area. The total capacity of roads located within the project domain is poised to rise upon the project completion to 6,000 vehicles per hour,” said Al Tayer.

New roads linking Al Riyadh and Oud Metha streets, expected to open to traffic by the middle of this year, will ease traffic woes in the Rashid Hospital area, Mattar Al Tayer, Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said yesterday. The new roads are part of the Dh700 million Rashid Hospital Tunnels Project, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-2013.
